Buenos Aires, February 25 (NA) — Over 300,000 children return to school today for the start of the new academic year in the City of Buenos Aires, where a model school is also inaugurating in the Barracas neighborhood. According to the communiqué accessed by the Argentine News Agency, 84,336 children are resuming activities in state and private initial levels, while 251,338 are returning to primary school classrooms accompanied by 45,000 teachers in 1,700 schools. The curriculum will begin on February 25 in Initial and primary levels, and on March 2 in secondary schools. Winter break will take place from July 20 to 31, and the school year will conclude on December 18. The 2026 school cycle also incorporates a new curriculum design for maternal and 3-year-old classrooms, aiming for an integral view of child development that, as indicated in the communiqué, reinforces the role of language, play, and interaction, and incorporates achievement indicators in Language and Mathematics for 3-year-olds. Regarding the new institution, it is the school Estación Buenos Aires, a model institution of the 'Buenos Aires Aprende' program, which will open for about 400 primary-level students and the first three years of secondary school. The educational space is located in the Estación Buenos Aires neighborhood, where about 10,000 people live in over 50 buildings. The area has a park, a plaza with games, a small soccer field, and two kindergartens (Jardín de Infantes Integral N°16 DE 5 and Jardín de Infantes Integral N°17 DE 5) where 83 and 130 children already attend, respectively.
